Product Features of Corrugated Compensators

These corrugated compensators are meticulously manufactured from top – tier special alloy materials. The alloy selection is based on a thorough understanding of the harsh operating conditions in industrial pipelines, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance, high – temperature tolerance, and mechanical strength. The precision – engineered forming process results in a unique corrugated structure. This design not only provides the compensators with remarkable flexibility, allowing them to adapt to various degrees of pipeline movement, but also significantly enhances their capacity to compensate for axial displacements.
In real – world industrial applications, pipelines are often subjected to a complex interplay of forces. Temperature variations can cause significant expansion and contraction, media flow can generate dynamic pressures, and equipment vibrations can transmit unwanted shockwaves. Our corrugated compensators are designed to address all these challenges. They effectively absorb the axial displacements caused by temperature changes, ensuring that the pipeline remains intact and functional even when exposed to extreme thermal conditions. The smooth inner surface of the corrugated compensators also helps to reduce the resistance to media flow, minimizing energy losses and improving the overall efficiency of the pipeline system.
Moreover, we have integrated advanced shock – absorption and vibration – isolation technologies into our corrugated compensators. Inside each compensator, high – performance shock – absorbing damping elements are strategically placed. These elements are capable of detecting even the slightest vibrations generated by connected equipment, such as pumps, compressors, or turbines. Once detected, they rapidly dissipate the vibration energy, converting it into heat through a process of internal friction. This effectively reduces the amplitude of vibrations, preventing them from being transmitted along the pipeline. By minimizing the impact of vibrations, we not only safeguard the integrity of the pipeline but also extend the lifespan of connected equipment. The reduced vibration also helps to prevent the development of fatigue cracks in the pipeline over time, a common issue in industrial settings that can lead to costly leaks and downtime.
In addition, our corrugated compensators are designed with modularity and ease of installation in mind. They can be easily integrated into existing pipeline systems without the need for extensive modifications, reducing installation time and costs. And with regular maintenance, these compensators can provide reliable service for many years, ensuring the long – term stability and efficiency of the pipeline network.

I. Introduction to the BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base Project

The BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base is strategically located on Donghai Island, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. Spanning an expansive planned area of approximately 90,000 square kilometers, the project is set to attract a total investment of up to 10 billion euros. This colossal undertaking represents the largest overseas investment project in BASF’s portfolio to date, with BASF assuming full responsibility for its construction and operation. Once completed, it will rank third among BASF’s global integrated production bases, trailing only the Ludwigshafen Base in Germany and the Antwerp Base in Belgium.

The initial batch of facilities at the project is focused on the production of engineering plastics and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). These products are in high demand across a wide range of burgeoning industries, including automotive manufacturing, electronics production, and the rapidly growing new – energy vehicle sector. On September 6, 2022, the first – set of facilities at the Zhanjiang Integrated Base was successfully commissioned into production. The construction of the entire integrated base is scheduled for full completion by 2030.
The BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base Project holds the distinction of being the first wholly – foreign – owned project in China’s heavy – chemical industry. Since its construction kick – off on November 23, 2019, and particularly after the successful start – up of the first – set of facilities on September 6, 2022, BASF has been steadily increasing its production capacity. Annually, an additional 60,000 tons of modified engineering plastics are being added to the Chinese market. Starting from 2023, the total production capacity of this product in the Asia – Pacific region has been raised to 420,000 tons, effectively meeting the growing and diverse demands of customers in industries such as automotive and electronics.
Notably, the first – set of facilities at the base is powered by 100% renewable energy, a testament to BASF’s commitment to sustainable development. The company has set an ambitious goal of achieving 100% renewable energy utilization for the entire Zhanjiang Integrated Base by 2025. This initiative not only aligns with global environmental trends but also positions BASF as a leader in the green – manufacturing movement within the industry.
The construction of the first – set of facilities at the BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base began with piling in 2020. In July 2022, after extensive research and analysis, BASF SE made a final investment decision to accelerate the construction of the Zhanjiang Integrated Base comprehensively. The current phase of construction is centered around the development of the base’s core area, which includes an advanced steam – cracking unit and multiple downstream units. Scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2025, this phase will provide a significant boost to BASF’s business growth in China. In subsequent phases, the project plans to expand with additional downstream units, diversifying its product offerings. Operations are expected to commence gradually from 2028, further strengthening BASF’s market presence.
Officially announced in July 2018, this project has been a focal point of attention due to its scale and significance. By 2030, BASF will have invested a cumulative 10 billion euros in the comprehensive development of the base. Another facility dedicated to the production of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is also planned for official commissioning in 2023, which will further enrich the product portfolio available in the market.
On September 4, 2023, BASF China announced on its official website that the syngas unit of the BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base had broken ground. This world – class syngas unit will be fully integrated into the overall layout of the integrated base and is expected to start production in 2025. The electricity required for the unit’s operation will be supplied by the base – specific power grid, with a commitment to achieving 100% renewable energy power supply by 2025. This further emphasizes the project’s dedication to sustainable energy practices.
On the afternoon of February 29, 2024, the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and BASF Group held a grand high – level consultation meeting on the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base Project in Zhanjiang. The leaders of both parties jointly attended the inauguration ceremony of the base’s integrated technology center. This event not only strengthened the cooperation between the two sides but also laid a solid foundation for the future efficient development, innovation, and expansion of the project.
